Teen skateboarder killed after colliding with car

'LITTLETON – Police say a teen was killed Thursday morning after an accident involving a skateboard and a Jeep.

Littleton Police say the incident occurred around 9 a.m. at South Windermere Street and West Meadowbrook Road.

Investigators say several students from Heritage High School were traveling southbound on South Windermere Street in a Jeep, while another student was clinging to the side of the Jeep riding on a skateboard.

Police say the skateboarder came off his board and suffered severe head trauma.

The teen was transported to Littleton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:48 a.m., according to authorities.

Investigators say the driver is being interviewed, but is not in custody at this time.

Police say they do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

The names of the victim and the driver were not immediately released.

Heritage High School says it will have counselors on hand to assist students and family.

The accident occurred on the school's last day of classes and seniors are set to graduate this Tuesday. Friday is Heritage's "Senior Dash" day – a yearbook signing day.'
