Freddy Got Fingered a.k.a That Darn Cat

Renter is gone yet cat remains in wall

'WHEAT RIDGE - Tonya Payne says she has run out of ideas. She has tried to tie a piece of dried cod on the end of a stick. He did not bite. She has placed a trap in front of the hole in the wall. He went in, tripped the trap, but somehow managed to escape.

"I've even tried to call in an animal communicator," she said.

The "communicator" has not called her back. [ED. NOTE - I love this little jab they threw in.]

Freddy just does not want to come out of the hole in the house Payne once rented to Freddy's owner.

"I'm really at a loss," Payne told 9NEWS.

The person who used to live in the home moved out last week, leaving a mess behind. The walls have big holes in them. The carpet is ruined. And there is a cat in the inner-workings of the tub.

That would be Freddy.

"A week ago (Thursday) he came to me and said, 'I'm not taking Freddy. I can't take him,'" said Bernice Taylor as she recalls the last conversation she had with the man who used to live in the house across the street from hers. "So one day I went in (I had the key) and I looked and Freddy's standing in the living room… and he takes off."

He went into the hole that leads to the "guts" of the old tub and he has not been seen outside of that area since.

"He is so frightened. He won't come out," said Taylor.

Taylor says the 4-and-a-half-year-old cat has always been skittish.

The people involved, it now appears, have tried everything imaginable to try to lure Freddy out of the hole.

On Wednesday, Payne even put a request out on Craigslist to see if anyone had any "bright ideas."

Her phone has not stopped ringing.

Yet Freddy has not stopped cowering.

So Payne has decided to ask for even more assistance. Should someone want Freddy and have an idea to get him out of his predicament, she says she is willing to give the person free cat food for a year.

She runs Mouthfuls, a store for pets, in Denver. Should you have an idea of how to get the cat out you can click here to e-mail her through her business at mouthfuls@worldnet.att.net.

The caretakers are leaving food and water behind for Freddy every night. He appears to be all right. However, he is truly scared and he does not want to leave.'
