Today In - 'Closet Case'
Steely Dan - 'Peg'
I am outing myself, musically.
I like Steely Dan.
There, I said it.
It's not really my fault.
They used to play this song at Babalu, and it grew on me.
And then Jack FM had to go and play all their stuff on heavy rotation.
They wore me down.

I used to like some Steely D®™©™ songs.
And then my brother in law pointed out Donald Fagen®™©™ sang with a lisp and that's all I focus on when I listen to their tunes.
I'm a big fan of their singles, but never got into their albums.
Oh, I should add that when "Hey Nineteen" first came out, I loathed the song. As I got older -- and yes I know how creepy this sounds -- I grew to love the song.
Lioux - Great, you didn't need to tell me that.
Howard - So when he talks about 'fine Colombian' in that song, is it pot, coke, or a cigar?
I am a freaking retard for Steely Dan. You've got nothing to apologize for. I have everything they've released, and I think part of the reason I like them so much is their dirty old man tendencies. Plus the copious amount of blatant drug references all dressed up and ready to strut. But it was ok back then.
The album this comes from, Aja, is absolutely the best they ever did, and I got really into it in my sophomore year of college when we used to get obliterated in the dorms and just zone out, wishing it was 1977.
Oh - and fine Colombian is blow.
Alienwhere, you wouldn't have struck me a Steely Dan fan.
Ha.
Strange, I know. Since I was 14. A cool friend of mine turned me on to them when I was a freshman in high school, and I recognized so many of the songs, it became a lifelong affair.
Go figure.
