Maya And Miguel

Came across this kind of weird kid's show last night on PBS.

What's weird about it, is one of the kids is missing an arm.

And doesn't this seem kind of cruel?:
'Andy, a European American boy who only has one arm and is Maya and Miguel's friend. Often seen in the background with Miguel and Theo, he wants to play the trombone.'
Can you play the trombone with a missing limb?

European American? What's that supposed to mean? That he's white?

Still...not digging that. Maybe it's based on a real one-armed kid.

I have known two kids (one boy, one girl) with similar congenital "defects" in which one of their arms was not complete (like Andy's). His right arm does extend to the elbow, so it's not completely missing. Both of these kids I knew were basketball stars at their respective high schools, so the authenticity of his character does resonate with me. Perhaps Andy could play the trombone, too. Who knows? I never saw these kids try that.
