Good Luck With That...

Nothing says 'I Love You' like a vegetable

PARKER – Twelve-year-old Brett Erklenz is hoping to make a quick buck from something he found in a sack of potatoes. He is trying to sell a heart-shaped potato on eBay.

“I was like: ‘Whoa! Look at this potato!’” he said.

The seventh grader was working on a project for his Consumer and Family Studies class at Sagewood Middle School when he came across the special spud. Instead of turning it into french-fries, he decided to auction the potato on the Internet.

There are four other heart-shaped potatoes and one heart-shaped potato chip currently for sale on eBay. Erklenz thinks his is the most perfectly formed tuber.

So far, he has not received any bids but that doesn’t stop him from dreaming big. Ideally he’d like to get enough money to buy a new bike and save the rest for college. If big bucks aren’t in Erklenz’s future, he’d just be happy with getting on The Today Show and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

“Well hopefully it sells and if not, well then I’ll eat it,” decided Erklenz.

He should say he also thinks he sees Jesus in the upper right hand corner! That potatoe would sell like...a hot potatoe.
