Magic 8 Shuffle
Basically, it's a mash up of the Random Ten, and what Taylor, and his peeps did. You put your media player on shuffle, and use the songs that appear, to answer the following questions:
1. How are you feeling today?
'Seasick, Yet Still Docked' - Morrissey
Ha! Kind of, but not really.
It's Friday after all.
This was me a few weeks ago though.
Favorite passage:
2. Will you get far in life?
'Higher Ground' - Stevie Wonder
Ha, again!
Preach on Stevie
3. What do your friends see you as?
'Regina - The Sugarcubes'
I hope not.
4. What is your best friend's theme song?
'Alfie' - Burt Bacharach [Instrumental]
I doubt it. It's too slow and dramatic. Although, it could kind of describe his love life.
5. What is the story of your life?
'Fly Like An Eagle' - Steve Miller.
Wow, really?
First off, yes, I like Steve Miller; at least his old stuff.
It all started with this song, actually.
It was high school, and I went to an 'Eden' rave, on a mountain just past Boulder. Dropped a tab of E, and as one of my DJ buddies started his set, I began rolling.
His first song?
'Fly Like An Eagle'.
Since this was on the side of a mountain, they had a laser that shot images on the mountain across the valley. So feeling my roll, my friend starting his set, being amongst friends, on a beautiful summer night on a mountain, having an Ecstatic moment, led to an instance, that will be stuck with me forever.
From that party on, I liked Steve Miller.
Huh, how funny, that is a story of my life.
By the way, I always thought the line was: 'Sugar children, with no shoes on their feet'
6. What was high school like?
'Erik Sandin's Stand In' - Dogpiss
Punk song. The lyrics:
I didn't necessarily want to be anyone else in high school, but I would have wanted to probably get all over 'Erik Sandin'. Actually, it was a few guys, besides 'Erik,' I just woulda pud'ed instead.
7. How can you get ahead in life?
'What Is Love?' - Deee-Lite
Don't what to say about this one, except that to get ahead, you have to, 'how do you say, [be] deee-licious, deee-lovely, deee-lectable, deee-vine? How do you say, deee-gorgeous! Deee-with-it, deee-groovy, deee-vine. Oooh, la la, la, la la la la'.
[Probably the gayest thing I have ever written].
8. What is the best thing about your friends?
'The National Front Disco' - Morrissey
Shuffle is feeling The Moz today, geesh. I would have to say, that they try to look out for me, and care.
Favorite passage:
9. What is in store for this weekend?
'This Is The Last Time' - Keane
Ha, ha. This could mean sooo many things.
Supposed to go to Lipgloss tonight; the chosen venue for Dave's and my, spectacular fight drama series [renewed for another season, by the way].
Also, supposed to go to a wine tasting tomorrow. Not a big fan of wine. Again, Dave + Pee Wee/Big Daddy + Hooch = drama. Planning on pulling up all the carpet in my place, which may be more than I am expecting, and thus, I will never do DYI again.
Passage:
Eerie. Dave and I's, relationship in a nutshell. [Yes, I used 'I's].
10. What song describes you?
'Family Reunion' - Blink 182
[Smirk]. Won't reprint the lyrics because they's be curse words, but it kind of describes my combative relationships with family and friends at times.
11. To describe your grandparents?
'Lady [Hear Me Tonight]' - Modjo
Hmmm, all my grandparents died when I was a kid, so I didn't really know them. I was told my grandfather on my mom's side used to tease me as a kid, by giving me hot sauce. I guess my reaction was entertaining. [Maybe that's why I like hot and spicy stuff now; exposed at such an early age].
If this song was to relate it would probably be me telling my grandmother, or mom, to not let me be humiliated via a spicy condiment.
Although, the title of the Chic song, 'Soup For One', that is sampled for 'Lady', would probably best describe my relationship with my family.
12. How is your life going?
'Little Fluffy Clouds' - The Orb
I can often be described as having my head in the clouds. I live on a rainbow, and charge a toll, for anyone wishing to cross, my multi-hued path to happiness.
Kidding.
Probably, the sample of Joni Mitchell describing her childhood skies, best tie with how my life is going. I often try to see the beauty of the world, no matter how mundane.
By the way, I would like to let you know, the Pee Wee/Big Daddy series of Holiday Greeting cards will be out in two weeks!
13. What song will they play at your funeral?
'Real Cool World' - David Bowie
Interesting. I could see it, but actually, I would rather have 'Papua New Guinea' by The Future Sound Of London [another teen age, Ecstasy-related story, for another time], off of the 'Cool World' soundtrack.
That, or 'Sympathy For The Devil', by The Stones.
14. How does the world see you?
'Don't Be Cruel' - Bobby Brown
OH MAN! How funny. I would agree. I can be a beeyotch at times, how kismet.
15. Will you have a happy life?
'I.D.' - Kasabian
Figures. I would have to show ID in order to be allowed happiness.
16. What do your friends really think about you?
'40 Feet' - Franz Ferdinand
They're describing how big my ego is.
After all:
17. Do people secretly lust after you?
'Lights' - Scissor Sisters
I would say so. Now get out of the shot!
Appropros passage:
Word.
18. How can I make myself happy?
'Juice [Know The Ledge] [Main Mix] - Eric B. And Rakim Vs. Chemical Brothers
I do love me some fresh juice.
Sounds about right.
19. What should you do with your life?
'Burden' - Face To Face
Yikes! This is kind of a bummer of a song for this question. I guess, not burden people?
Lyrics are spot on, though:
Wow. This was kind of fun, and creepy, how dead on some of the songs were. Should try this again later.
Lotta work, and long ass post though.
1. How are you feeling today?
'Seasick, Yet Still Docked' - Morrissey
Ha! Kind of, but not really.
It's Friday after all.
This was me a few weeks ago though.
Favorite passage:
'And all of my life no-one gave me anything
No-one has ever given me anything
My love is as sharp as a needle in your eye
You must be such a fool
To pass me by'
2. Will you get far in life?
'Higher Ground' - Stevie Wonder
Ha, again!
'Cause my last time on Earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
'Til I reach the highest ground'
Preach on Stevie
3. What do your friends see you as?
'Regina - The Sugarcubes'
I hope not.
'Regina is too old
But the sun is much older
Still the sun with white teeth
But Mrs R. with none
Sun with false teeth
Give me lobster and fame.'
4. What is your best friend's theme song?
'Alfie' - Burt Bacharach [Instrumental]
I doubt it. It's too slow and dramatic. Although, it could kind of describe his love life.
5. What is the story of your life?

6. What was high school like?
'Erik Sandin's Stand In' - Dogpiss
Punk song. The lyrics:
'I wanna be Erik Sandin's stand-in
'cause he doesn't have to get his f*ckin' gland in
He's got no trouble with the fillies
Looks a little bit like (hey!) Bruce Willis
I wanna be Erik Sandin's stand-in
I wanna be Erik Sandin's stand-in
'cause he doesn't have to get his f*ckin' gland in
If I could pull like him I would
But I just end up pulling my pud
I wanna be Erik Sandin's stand-in'
I didn't necessarily want to be anyone else in high school, but I would have wanted to probably get all over 'Erik Sandin'. Actually, it was a few guys, besides 'Erik,' I just woulda pud'ed instead.

8. What is the best thing about your friends?
'The National Front Disco' - Morrissey
Shuffle is feeling The Moz today, geesh. I would have to say, that they try to look out for me, and care.
Favorite passage:
'David, the winds blow
The winds blow ...
All of my dreams away
And I still say :
"Where is our boy? Ah, we've lost our boy"
But I should know
Why you've gone
Because again and again you've explained
You've gone to the ...
National, ah ...
To the National ..
There's a country; you don't live there
But one day you would like to
And if you show them what you're made of
Oh, then you might do ...'
9. What is in store for this weekend?
'This Is The Last Time' - Keane

Passage:
'This is the last time
That I will say these words
I remember the first time
The first of many lies
Sweep it into the corner
Or hide it under the bed
Say these things they go away
But they never do
Something I wasn't sure of
But I was in the middle of
Something I forget now
But I've seen too little of
The last time
You fall on me for anything you like
Your one last line
You fall on me for anything you like
And years make everything alright
You fall on me for anything you like
And I no I don't mind'
Eerie. Dave and I's, relationship in a nutshell. [Yes, I used 'I's].

16. What do your friends really think about you?
'40 Feet' - Franz Ferdinand
They're describing how big my ego is.
After all:
'Salt scales upon my drying arms
Burn my back beneath the burning rays
Lookingdown, looking down
Down, down again'
17. Do people secretly lust after you?
'Lights' - Scissor Sisters
I would say so. Now get out of the shot!
Appropros passage:
'When you cut the lights out think of me
When you cut the lights out think of all the things you can't see
But are they real?
That face will be revealed'
Word.
18. How can I make myself happy?
'Juice [Know The Ledge] [Main Mix] - Eric B. And Rakim Vs. Chemical Brothers
I do love me some fresh juice.
'Corners' trifling 'cause shorty's here
I get cock-d liffin' forty's of beer;
Here's a sip for the crew that's deceased,
If I get revenge, then they rest in peace.'
Sounds about right.
19. What should you do with your life?
'Burden' - Face To Face
Yikes! This is kind of a bummer of a song for this question. I guess, not burden people?
Lyrics are spot on, though:
'You could say
I might find it difficult
To show it on the outside
From far away
I should seem as ordinary as would seem the truth
But all we find
Dishonesty and lies
It's hard to recognize the truth
And why can't I
Discover what the reason is
That I
Know there's something left that I should prove
[Chorus]
I didn't mean to burden you
Is there something more to this?
I didn't mean to burden you
Is there something more to this?
Was it something that I've already missed?
Peel away the fear
That I'm not good enough
To give back what I've taken
It's hard to say
The dissappointment tends to make
The optimism fade
I'm still behind
And running out of time
It's nothing but a trite excuse
And why can't I, discover what the reason is
That I know there's something left that I should prove'
Wow. This was kind of fun, and creepy, how dead on some of the songs were. Should try this again later.
Lotta work, and long ass post though.
