Time to imbibe

It was interesting Saturday night. I went out to dinner with some friends for my birthday. Went to Lime XS. As usual, their nachos rocked. But I guess everyone else in my party wasn't impressed with the food, at the new location.

After that, we dropped by The Skylark, as Dave had some magazine business to attend to. The Skylark, is like an old 50's bar. In fact, a lot of local rockabilly and 1960-surfer style bands play there. On that night, a band called 'The Beloved Invaders' were playing. I swear I have seen them open up for someone before. Anywho, they were great.

Next, we stopped by the old hunting ground, Tracks. Was hanging out in the 80's room, getting our drink on, when I realized I noticed someone. It was Scotty [!]. He was the manager of Tracks when I worked there. He had been out in LA, so it was a surprise to see him.

I guess he is working with the owner of Tracks again, but this time on their new endeavour, an event center space right next door to Tracks. Scotty took us on a tour of the space, and it's huge! In fact, Scotty asked if I would be interested in bartending over there. I said 'yes' at the time, but now I am thinking twice. I don't really need the money. Oh, and they are also opening a restaurant called Kiva, at the old Tosh's Hacienda space.

A little bit later, I was approached by this hottie. He knew my full name, but I could not identify him. His name is Mike, and I guess he used to hang with us when I was a raver. I'm talking circa 1992. How he remembered me, is amazing. I know I killed a lot of brain cells back then, so to remember me after 14 years is mind blowing to me.

It was cool to catch up, and I even felt a vibe between us, but alas, he was only in town for the weekend, and was flying home Sunday morning. Curses.

Ran in to a few more people I hadn't seen in ages, which was nice. Unfortunately, people kept buying me shots, and I paid for it on Sunday. Mental note, stay away from Absolut Pear. Yick.
