They could show my cirrhosis of the liver

Opening tomorrow:

Human bodies as art: Body Worlds 2 comes to Denver

Thirty plastinated bodies posed in various forms of activity, along with about 200 human specimens, tell the intimate story of what we're made of. The original owners of the bodies donated them to science, specifically to be plastinated and displayed for others to see. The preservation process was invented in 1977 by the exhibit's inventor, Gunter Von Hagens, a German physician and anatomist.

Besides the full-body plastinates, several specimens allow viewers to see the ravages of disease, most of it preventable. Centura Health which is sponsoring the exhibit in Denver, also donated artificial joints and other medical devices that attendees can handle to better understand how they give relief and restore function.

A journal allows viewers to give their comments about what they've seen. In a somewhat surprising turn, many of the comments voice support over wanting to join the exhibit someday, as a plastinated specimen. One woman wrote," My greatest hope with Plastination is that in the event I contribute nothing in life, I may do so in death..."

The Exhibit opens Friday, March 10th and runs until July 23rd, 2006.
