Interesting.

It will be close to the Gates Rubber Plant project.

City to build $1.7 million mini golf course

'DENVER (AP) - A mini golf course may cost the city of Denver some big money.

The City Council is considering construction of a $1.7 million miniature golf course that one official is calling "cool."

The new course would be built on the site of a rundown miniature golf course near the city's full-size Overland Golf Course in south-central Denver.

"It's going to be cool," project manager Kay Krebs said. "It'll go with Denver ... It's not going to be cheesy."

The city has already spent $500,000 on design and $100,000 demolishing the rundown Aqua Golf miniature course, making way for a 36-hole showpiece featuring stone waterfalls, a fountain and a driving range.

The money will come from the city's Golf Department, which manages seven full-sized courses, plus a multimillion-dollar golf bond issued two years ago.

Denver Councilwoman Kathleen MacKenzie said construction will not affect any city services or require money from the city's general fund. The new course is expected to generate about $300,000 a year.

Work could begin by March and wrap up by the fall.'
