Coroner identifies woman who died jumping out of ambulance

'GREENWOOD VILLAGE – The Arapahoe County Coroner has identified a woman who died after jumping out of an ambulance on Sunday.

Authorities say 36-year-old Melissa Watkins jumped out of the ambulance on Interstate-25 Sunday on her own accord.

Police say Watkins was being transported by Action Care Ambulance when she leapt from the vehicle around 2:28 p.m.

Authorities say Watkins was not hit by any cars. She was taken to Swedish Medical Center, where she died.

I-25 northbound was closed at Orchard for more than two hours because of the incident.

The road reopened around 4:40 p.m.'
