I was just in there last week and wondered if they had been robbed yet. That location is always busy.
Clerk shot on 16th Street Mall expected to survive

'DENVER - A convenience store clerk is recovering at an area hospital Monday after a man walked into the store Sunday and shot him.

Ali Bashir Abu Zama, 37, was working as a clerk at the 7-Eleven on 16th Street and Champa Street around 4 p.m. when a man walked into the store and shot him in the head.

The clerk was taken to Denver Health and listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon. Monday morning he is said to be in critical condition but expected to survive.

The shooting happened when the mall was very busy after a Colorado Rockies game at Coors Field. Police said they got good descriptions of the suspect from witnesses and were able to arrest 22-year-old Brodrick Jerome Roddy a few blocks away at 19th Street and Arapahoe Street.

A co-worker says the suspect had been loitering in the store and the clerk had asked him to leave. About 15 minutes later, he returned with a gun and shot the clerk. Police say they are still investigating a possible motive.

Roddy is being held for attempted first degree murder.'
