Ha.

The reason I ha'd this, is that locally, Poudre Canyon/Valley is a slang term for Oprah's vajayay. And to have 'happy ending' in the title, makes the line unintentionally [perhaps intentional?] funny.

Happy ending for cliff hanger

Poudre Canyon

'For Terry and Marion Jones, salvation came Thursday in the form of a wet nose and a wagging tail.

It had been four nights since they were supposed to walk out of the woods north of Rocky Mountain National Park and drive home to Fort Collins. Three mornings since their last good meal.

They'd been scraping by on foraged mushrooms and berries, sipping creek water since their own supply went dry and staying put because that's what you're supposed to do when you're stuck in the wild and need somebody to find you. A day earlier, they'd seen a helicopter looking for them fly below the high ridgeline they were on, and all the shouting and whistle-blowing their hungry get that chopper to look up.'
