Imagine her future therapy bills.
Mother makes daughter hold sign that says 'I steal'
SILVERTHORNE – "I steal in school, not study."
'That's the sign 14-year-old Stacia Worthington held up outside a gas station during rush hour Tuesday morning. Stacia's mother, Desiree, works at the gas station and made the sign after she caught her daughter stealing $500 from a classmate in school.
"She got three days suspension. The first day was kind of easy for her, the second day she went out to the landfill and did some recycling for her county, and today she's going to learn humility," said Desiree Worthington.
Onlookers had different opinions about Desiree's decision.

"There's other forms of punishment I think without humiliating the girl in front of the entire Summit County. I think it's disgusting," one said.
"I think the mother knows her child the best," said another.
Silverthorne resident Bruce Miller says he thinks the punishment fit the crime.
"She's probably not having any fun, but you know, it's a lesson she probably needs and congratulations to her parents for helping her out here," he said.
As for what Stacia thinks, Desiree said, "Right now she's a little angry with me."
Desiree did keep an eye on Stacia, let her come inside every hour to warm up and brought her muffins and hot chocolate.'

What I wanna know is, what's a kid doing carrying around $500? Times sure have changed since I was in school!
I was wondering about that, too.
