For my NYC peeps.

This is what Union Square looked like circa 1994. I used to dorm in 25 Union Square West [Carlyle Court if I remember right]. Someone put a lei on Gandhi, and it lasted for quite a while.

What is now Whole Foods and DSW, was a boarded up ex-department store.

Carlyle was the best! I lived there for a semester my junior year, but boy how that area has changed!

I was in that very Whole Foods last night. Based on that experience, I'm ambivalent about urban development.

There is an insanely cute guy who works there, though, so I guess it's not all bad.

Not only that, the Meatpacking District was still that, the gays had just discovered Chelsea, and the Lower East Side was still ghetto.

There were still tent people at Tompkins Square park.

I think Carlyle was the best dorm at the time.
